A Whole New Life

In the last month, I have been blessed with 2 beautiful babies, a boy and a girl. I get to see Raegan a lot more than I will get to see Toby but I am totally in love with both of them. There is something about babies that just makes my heart melt in a way that nothing else does.

This week Walter and I found out that another friend of ours is expecting. She isn't due until February of next year and she lives in Arizona, so I am not sure how much we'll see the baby but I'm excited just the same. I get excited just when an acquaintance from my past posts pictures of babies on their Facebook page.

Babies are blessings. Whether you believe in God or in Fate or in Karma or in nothing at all. You can't deny that babies are special in every way.

At 5 weeks pregnant, you can't even see the baby on an ultrasound.

At 10 weeks pregnant, the baby is the size of a prune.

At 20 weeks pregnant, the baby weighs 10oz and is 6.5inches long.

At around 40 weeks, a baby is born between 6 and 10 pounds and 18-22 inches long.

Over the next 24 months, they go from being an eating, sleeping, diaper filling machines to a walking, talking, explore the world little person.

Over the next 24 years, they will grow into their own. They will go through many, many years of school. They will learn how to live in the world. They will figure out what they want to grow up to be and become that. They might even have children of their own.

How can you think of all that change and growth and not be in awe of it all?

How can you hold a baby and not feel like you are holding the future in your hands?

“There are only two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
― Albert Einstein
